This past Saturday, HSBA had the pleasure of hosting its first ever Paint Night, an idea born from the bright minds of our new Social Directors, Briana Volpe and Crystal Lechuga! As the first social and fundraiser of the semester, our directors were dead set on making Paint Night a huge success. Their goal was to have at least 40 people in attendance, but they far surpassed that goal. By the end of the week, the event had completely sold out.
There had been some initial fear that the event would have to be canceled due to the recent rainy season, but rain or shine, the event was on! And, rain it did, but our Social Directors had it all figured it out. They set out a big white canopy and an outside heater to keep attendees warm, dry, and comfortable. Guests arrived to a delicious array of fruit, snacks, desserts, and drinks in large part due to the generosity of our sponsors Chick-Fil-A, Coca-cola, Trader Joe’s, and Whole Foods. Once guests had settled in, we began our painting lesson, led by our very own Banquet Director, Adriana Cruz. There was giggles and snorts throughout the night as many of us failed to follow instructions. We all struggled as we attempted to match the same shades used by Adriana. One of us gave up and instead drew a chicken. Some cried because they had stained their clothes. However, by the end of the night, everyone proudly held up their own paintings. It was an amazing, cheerful night that hopefully becomes a new colorful HSBA tradition.
